About Asana Alphabet

Asana Alphabet(tm) provides high-quality yoga classes for youth of all ages and teacher trainings in children's yoga.  Whether sending a yoga teacher to a weekly kindergarten class, training a school teacher to integrate yoga into the classroom, offering online yoga classes during a pandemic or creating curricula that meets high educational standards, each program has been test-tried to ensure both learning and fun while integrating the mind and body through effective and authentic yoga techniques.

Ann Robideaux, founder and director, has been teaching  adult yoga and children's yoga for over 20 years to kids of all ages and backgrounds. She is certified in Kundalini Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Thai Yoga Bodywork, Prenatal Yoga and hold higher degrees in psychology, dance and choreography.  She is a recognized Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance.

The Asana Alphabet(tm) philosophy is that the best learning is found through teaching experience; that is why we are committed to only granting children's yoga certification to our certification candidates who have observed classes and taught actual children in a real-life setting. Those who take our intensive trainings are given enough tools to begin teaching kids yoga confidently right away.  We are an RCYS with the Yoga Alliance.  We combine over 23 years of experience in schools with Hatha and Kundalini Yoga knowledge and fun and age appropriate activities for highly unique and effective teaching.

Since its official legal founding in 2004, Asana Alphabet(tm) has donated over 1500 volunteer yoga classes, 1000 yoga mats to schools in need, and awarded teacher training scholarships to teachers working in underfunded public schools on a regular basis.  We have partnered with over 50 different schools through out NYC since our founding and have expanded into NJ, Miami, Arkansas, Brazil, and Belize as of late.

Our director and founder, ERYT, Ann Robideaux, holds bachelor degrees in psychology, cum laude; an MFA in dance and numerous yoga certifications including Kundalini Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Thai-Yoga Bodywork, and Meditation (and recognized as a YA teacher as such).  She has been teaching for over 20 years in various school settings to a wide array of diverse populations.  Having overcome severe injury (from a dance career) in great part due to a daily yoga practice, she is a true believer in the transformative power that yoga and mindfulness offer.  Asana Alphabet teachers are required to go through a rigorous teacher training and teach children's yoga on a regular basis and background check before being placed in area schools.
